These five brands are told to have sibutramine, an appetite suppressant, which can make one suffer from high blood pressure.
In addition, Perfect Men Dietary Supplement and Herbal Drink Acai-man Mangosteen Dietary Supplement were told to be carrying tadalafil, which is used to cure male erectile dysfunction. As of now, there is no report of human damage received. However, all possible precautionary measures would be taken to keep the situation under control.
While the issue is being talked about, there is another article in the American Botanical Council (ABC) publication Herbalgram, which has talked about the kind of federal government regulations imposed on dietary supplements. It has been written by health policy expert R. William Soller, PhD, who has profound knowledge in the regulation of both dietary supplements and nonprescription medications.
Even special inputs have been made by the food and drug law attorney, Holly J. Bayne, Esq., who specializes in dietary supplement and botanicals issues along with Christopher Shaheen, a researcher in the Center for Consumer Self Care at the UCSF School of Pharmacy, San Francisco.
The article talks about the level of awareness about the regulatory authorities held by both the FDA and the FTC. Prior to this, there was another article published in Herbalgram in 2000 by Soller and others, who underlined the issue for the first time.
