It has been recently revealed in a new report published in the Lancet that the deaths due to malaria are underestimated by huge levels. It has been further said that there has been the death of as many as 1.24 million people due to malaria in the year 2010, as compared to the 655,000 deaths that had been estimated by the World Health Organization.
The previous levels have been underestimated by huge levels; b the new report also says that the levels of deaths are now seen to be falling.
The research that was funded by the Bill and Melina Gates Foundation has found that the current efforts being made by the authorities all over the world to control the levels of malaria are working well, and the message is spreading loud and clear. People are actually taking note of the situation and precautions and vaccinations are being taken seriously.
You learn in medical school that people exposed to malaria as children develop immunity and rarely die from malaria as adults," What we have found in hospital records, death records, surveys and other sources shows that just is not the case”, said Dr. Christopher Murray, from the University of Washington situated in Seattle.
There is need for keeping up the good work. There is need for more awareness to be spread in this regard, so that more and more people can work towards eradicating the disease thoroughly from the face of the earth.
There is need for more awareness camps and fundraisers to be organized so that the people suffering the most from the disease have to be brought respite to. Simple measures of preventing malaria need to be followed effectively by people so that the disease can be prevented in the long run.
