Abu Dhabi inflation rate touching new lows

Inflation rate in Abu Dhabi continued its downward journey in November after hitting a 20 year low during the previous month. The recently released figures by the Statistics Centre - Abu Dhabi (SCAD) indicates significant decline in price rising in recent months.

Inflation rate stood at 0.85 percent, recording a steep decline in the month of November. The figures were at 14.69 percent in the corresponding period last year. SCAD informed in its report, "This decline in the rate of inflation reflects a marked stability in the general level of prices in the emirate of Abu Dhabi throughout the reference period."

Consumer price index in November dropped 0.41 percent against the level in the same period last year given to a significant decline in the prices of major commodity groups including clothing and footwear. Food and non alcoholic drink rates too fell 5 per cent that further declined the consumer price index.

However, housing sector is still booming in the country with home prices surged 3.77 per cent in the reporting period. Alcoholic drinks and tobacco prices too jumped 16 percent, according to the data released today.
