Follow a Protein-Rich Diet to Lose Weight, Says Study

DietIt has been suggested by a study at the University of Sydney that the women who wish to lose weight should consume a protein-rich diet. It is found by the team of researchers that a diet containing protein is far helpful and much effective for the women aiming to lose weight.

The team conducted a research on 71 women between 18 to 25 years of age who were overweight and obese. The analysts questioned and observed effects of their behavioural changes, exercise and dieting on their weight over a year. They asked half of these women to take a higher protein diet, while the other half was told to take up a diet rich in carbohydrates.

It has been told by the researchers that both the diets contained the same amount of kilojoules, fibres and saturated fat. In addition to it, they were suggested a walk for 30 minutes every day as well as had to visit a dietician for a month. It was then concluded by the researchers that women who took protein rich diet had lost weight two times than those who took carbohydrates rich diet.

It was due to the fact that higher amount of protein helped them to remain full for long as well as affected their self-esteem positively. Along with this, it also increased iron levels in them, Dr. Helen O'Connor, one of the researchers told the reporters. Thus, after the research, the team has been recommending that it is better for those who wish to lose weight to take a diet full of proteins as after one of the research a significant fall in women’s weight was noticed by the researchers, says the report.
