In a recent report, it has been revealed that when a man from Bronx Mr. Alex Rodriguez, 28- years-old was treated for pneumonia and was handed a hospital bill of $44,776,587, he almost had an asthma attack.

He is an unemployed man, who currently has no proper source of income, and was of the view that when he was cured for the disease at the Bronx-Lebanon Hospital, he felt better and recovering. As soon as he received his massive bill though, he fell ill once again.

He revealed that he has no source of income and even doesn’t have a medical insurance that could cover his bills. He did expect a hefty bill, but this was something beyond his calculations. He has now been given the option of paying the bills in installments, the first one was only supposed to be of a few hundreds.

He said he couldn’t believe he had to pay such a huge sum and wants the hospital authorities to go through his billing system again and look for errors. It was later found that the bill amount had been swapped with the invoice number and this is what had caused such a major misunderstanding. It was told by the PHY, that they shall issue him a new bill and an apology letter as well.

It was later found that his bill is something about $300 and he was easily able to clear his dues later. It is essential that billing systems are made more robust so that people don’t have to face such problems in the future. It could’ve caused the already ill man a great deal if he had suffered an asthma attack and things would’ve got serious.
