A concerned mother who wanted her dying daughter to meet her sibling opted to give birth to her three weeks earlier. Paula Holmes, mother of a brain tumor stricken child, asked the doctors to help her in giving birth to Scarlet prematurely.

Paula Holmes’ first daughter Katy was diagnosed with cancer in October. Katy is just ten years old and since the detection of the tumor her health has been deteriorating. Paula and her husband were concerned that their little daughter might never be able to meet her siblings.

While expressing the need of giving birth prematurely, Paula said, “The realisation that I was pregnant and that Katy might not get to see the baby was terrifying. My consultant agreed to do it without hesitation”.

It has been informed by the parents of Katy that Katy used to be happy child but all of sudden she stooped smiling. Katy’s head teacher informed the parents that Katy does not smile at all. Paula was concerned and she took her to the GP.

Katy informed that soon after turning six she had been experiencing blurred vision and headache. Paula said that there is a family history of headache but they never thought that their little girl might be having brain tumor.

Doctors examined the activities of Katy’s brain for almost a week and then broke the news of her being affected with brain cancer. The news completely shattered her parents. They were shocked to know that their little girl was going to die.

Since then they have been doing all they could to give happiness to their daughter. And this is the reason as to why Paula chose to give birth prematurely. Paula informed that when every Scarlet is in the arms of Katy, the little girl’s face lights up with happiness.
