According to recent reports, there is need for more people to open up their hearts for becoming foster carers. The Fostering Network is of the view that there is currently a huge pressure on the services that exist. This is why there is need for more foster carers. There is need for as many as 1000 more foster carers, in Scotland. They need to be found in the next one year, so that a major crisis situation can be avoided.

It is always better for a child to live in foster care than in a care home. This is why there is need for better foster services for children, who are in need for love and support. Children need to be removed from unsafe places, and given safer havens. This is one of the reasons why there has been an increase in the foster care being given to children since the year 2005. There are more foster families in the building since then.

As of now, there are as many as 4700 children living with about 3,300 foster families across the country. Foster care is a better option for the children in need for help, without having to separate from their families and they don’t even have to stay in children homes for it.

Foster parents are like those angels sent by God who are working towards making the lives of these children better, providing them financial support and help to lead a good life.

"Good foster carers are people who genuinely enjoy children and believe they can help turn a child's life around. The skills involved include communication skills, a sense of humor, 'stickability' and the ability to work as a team”, said Sarah Lurie, the Director of the FNS. She further added that it may be difficult for people to separate from their foster kids at times, and this is the reason that is holding back many people from doing this noble act. They need to take it is a positive way of helping people in need.
