Following the fears of catching E. Coli O157: H7 or other harmful bacteria from the dairy’s cow, milk, facilities and manure, California's Department of Food and Agriculture (approx a month back) imposed a statewide ban on the consumption of all the dairy's raw milk and raw-milk products except for aged cheese.
The department clearly mentioned in its statement to impose the ban on the products that they are searching bacteria in these products that can cause serious digestive problems in human body. Also, it can prove deadly for kidneys and can cause even death in some severe cases.
Raw milk is served like that without being pasteurized to kill fecal pathogens such as E. coli O157: H7 that might get in the milk. But the "holiday" message posted on the Organic Pasture Dairy's Facebook page has suggested people are free from ban over consumption of the raw milk and its products.
Yes, the message read at 6 p. m. on Dec. 16. In the message, the department has hand delivered Organic Pastures' Co-owner Mr. Mark McAfee a notice stating that his dairy's raw milk and raw-milk products have been released from the quarantine except of raw colostrum i. e. the first milk of a cow after its calf is born.
Moreover, the news has also stated it clear from the department that the dairy has to make sure that it is running all the procedures in good sanitation surroundings and also it comply with all the food-safety regulations.
"We have 18 trucks full steam ahead moving milk all over California”, McAfee told Food Safety News on Friday evening. "We've even changed our milking protocol. We were made better by this process, and it paid off. Our plant received a 100 percent score from the department”, he added.
