Australian Blood Service Betting on Northern Beaches

Australian Blood Service Betting on Northern BeachesThe Australian Red Blood Service has put forth a shocking fact that they do not have enough blood to meet community requirements. This is a matter of concern as lost of incidents take place at the time of Christmas and New Year. Therefore, blood banks should always be ready to supply blood.

Approximately 55, 000 blood donation bookings are needed to meet the requirement, but blood service spokesman Jarrod Flynn said till they are able to secure 30,000 only.

He said another concern is that they do not have enough blood platelets which are required during cancer treatments. Blood platelets have shelf life of just five days, so it is impossible to retain them till Christmas.

It is not expected to have blood platelets donation at the time of festival as everyone tends to go on holidays or indulge in shopping and feasting. Flynn said they have taken out a novel solution to ask for blood donation.

Their teams would be going to northern beaches, where they would pass on the message to donate blood to bring smile on the face of others on this festival. This would not only let them overcome their shortage of supply. But, it would also make them pass on a great message that this time they should gift someone his life by donating blood.

Flynn said there is a reason to choose northern beaches, who told, “In the past, northern beaches residents have responded generously, but ... we need them to be more generous than ever before to help us through this tough period”.

Three blood camps have been decided till now. One would take place next week in Dee Why; second camp would take place after Christmas in Avalon; and last camp would be organized after New Year in Mona Vale.
