Durham County Health Department is organizing flu vaccination camp for a week which would start from Monday. Timings would be from 8:30 a. m. to 4.30pm.
This time two types of vaccination would be offered. One is conventional fly jab and other one is nasal mist. Health department experts are urging people and especially expecting mothers, children and elderly people to not to forget them vaccinated.
Health Director Gayle Harris said ones just need to take out five minutes from their busy schedule and in this time they could get protection from winter flu. It is not the first time that they have organized such camps but nasal mist is an addition to the list.
It’s not a concealed truth for Americans that flu vaccination is important for them, but it’s something least in their priority list. There is not one way, but many ways through which Americans could receive vaccinations and these methods have been available with doctors, health clinics and retail stores, but Americans have not realized the fact that it is important for them.
Last year only 42% Americans took the vaccination, revealed the U. S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Dr. Andrew Pavia who is chairing the IDSA's Pandemic Influenza Task Force was of the view, "Last year, during a relatively mild flu season, we treated very severe complications of the flu in otherwise healthy teenagers. So, just as everyone uses seat belts, everybody, even healthy people, should get the flu vaccine”.
Everyone who is above six months is allowed take the vaccination. Pavia informed about the new type of flu vaccination. She affirmed that it is known as intermodal shots which is 90% smaller in size in comparison to regular needles and is injected into the skin instead of muscle.
