Caduet Makes Ranbaxy Gain Points In Market

RanbaxyRanbaxy Pharmaceuticals Inc. joined hands with Pfizer Inc. and have taken out an authorized generic version of Caduet in the US market. For now the product is coming under the brand of Pfizer and is meant for the patients who have high blood pressure and cholesterol.

This news has let Ranbaxy Laboratories to register growth in the market as it is currently trading at Rs 442.00 which is up by 5.60 points. It has added 27, 000 shares added to the counter.

It got opened in the morning at Rs 441.95 and since then it has been trading between Rs 444.10 and Rs 441.00 respectively. Ranbaxy Senior Vice President Venkat Krishnan said, "Atorvastatin-Amlodipine besylate tablet is a significant and important addition to our portfolio of cardio-vascular products, in the US”.

It is great news for Ranbaxy Laboratories which is an Indian based pharmaceutical company. Based on their recent performance, they have also got permission from the US health officials to introduce another generic version of medicine.

This medicine would only be meant for cholesterol patients and would copy of cholesterol lowering drug Lipitor. This would give the India-based firm to extend their business in the US market which is the biggest market in terms of medicinal drugs.

Krishnan said they have had an agreement with Pfizer due to which they launched Caduet in American market. Its core component is crystalline form of Atorvastatin and is extremely beneficial for high BP patients as well as for people having high cholesterol.

There is huge variety that is available under Caduet, revealed Krishnan and till now they have generated $339 million in the US as a part of their annual sales. It is an affordable medicine and this is the point which would work in the US market for them, informed Krishnan.
