It has been recently revealed in a report that muscle fatigue might be a result of the complex series of actions going on in one’s brain. A study is of the revelation that it is the brain that actually causes fatigue and not one’s physical prowess.
The study has been conducted by Kai Lutz of the Zurich University. Another member of the research was Urs Boutellier, of the ETH from Switzerland. It was reported in a Neuroscience journal that the process in the neuron system of a person causes reduction in the activity of muscles. This is something that causes muscle fatigue when a person exercises.
Another part of the same study was led by Lea Hilty. It was discovered that the neuronal system has a dual effect on the brain of a person. It first of all informs the brain about the fatigue and then also influences the motor activity of the body.
This motor movement is actually what controls the actions of a person and determines when one is tired, and when one feels rejuvenated and fresh to work more.
This research was especially conduced to understand the plight of sportspersons. The researchers have been able to discover a new mechanism that is responsible for reduction in the muscles of a person during strenuous activities.
So, it means that the levels of activating the muscles are dependent on the motivation and the level of fatigue seen in the muscles of a person. “The findings are an important step in discovering the role the brain plays in muscle fatigue. Based on these studies, won’t be possible to develop strategies to optimize muscular performance, but specifically investigate reasons for reduced muscular performance in various diseases”, revealed Lea Hilty, of the University of Zurich.
