Last week, we heard the news that rural groups are demanding health facilities, especially for the rural network, and the entire issue was supported by the Rural General Practice Network.
While congratulating the National on its reelection to the Government, the Rural General Practice Network has clearly mentioned in its statement about the continuity in work that the organization thinks is important to resolve rural health issues (some of which are long standing) to the best.
Some of the priority areas highlighted by the rural group were: health policies to help retain health providers in rural areas by providing improved working conditions and career opportunities, strengthening of career pathways in the community, provision of financial and infrastructure support for training in rural communities and policies to efficiently address the increasing burden of after-hours care on service providers.
"We look forward to working with the new Government and to help them deal with issues which rural communities and general practice teams face day-to-day, some of them ongoing and historical", Network Chair Dr. Jo Scott- Jones said.
She further added in her statement about higher needs of rural areas that usually have lower socioeconomic status and a very high proportion of Maori in the population. Also, they are supporting the rural communities and hoping that the Government provides clear leadership to efficiently address the health care needs of rural communities.
The National-led Government has been reelected for a second term. Over the occasion, the New Zealand Rural General Practice Network congratulated the Government.
Hopes are higher that the Government efforts do not lack anywhere while working with the Minister of Health to solve issues in the rural health sector to the best.
