The latest Inter-Arab Investment Guarantee Corporation annual report has confirmed UAE as the top Arab investor in Lebanon - as the value of UAE ventures in Lebanon exceeded $1 billion (Dh3.67 billion).

It should be noted that 41.9 per cent of the value of projects commenced by Arab investors in Lebanon in 2008 are represented by the UAE investment. The report, which shows that the most active in Lebanon are the UAE investors specifically, says that UAE investors have invested $1.115 billion there.

Emirates to increase Beirut flights

Emirates has decided to roll out nine additional flights to Beirut, Lebanon, in August in order to keep up with customer demand during the busy summer season.

The sources said that the additional flights will give the Dubai to Beirut service an important boost.

At present, Emirates operates 17 weekly flights between Dubai and Beirut. During August the carrier will add 18 additional flights between Dubai and Beirut.

Yesterday, finally the murder mystery of the of Lebanese pop star, Suzanne Tamim, 30, came to an end. The trial commenced last year, when she was found stabbed to death in her Dubai apartment.

In a Courtroom in Cairo, Hisham Talaat Moustafa, 60, one of Egypt's richest and most influential man, and the main suspect behind the murder was sentenced to death yesterday.
