Algosaibi sues Mashreq for role in 'massive fraud'

Saudi group, Ahmad Hamad Algosaibi & Bros, accused Saad Group Chairman, Ma'an Al Sanea, of a $10 billion (Dh36.73 billon) fraud and stated that Mashreq Bank PJSC had helped Al Sanea.

The suit Mashreqbank PSC versus Yousuf Ahmad Hamad Algosaibi, 602171/2009, has been filed in New York State Supreme Court (Manhattan).

UAE grants foreign homeowners multiple entry visas

Multiple entry visit visas would be granted to expatriate property owners in the United Arab Emirates that would enable them up to stay six months at a time.

It was confirmed by the Gulf state in a decree issued on Saturday, "Home buyers had been waiting for legislation for years to clarify their residency rights in the second-largest Arab economy after many of the country's seven emirates allowed foreign investment in property in recent years."

Nova Scotia woman detained in Dubai for aggressive behavior

A Nova Scotia woman, Nicole Stroop-Gillis, 34, was detained in Dubai, for being drunk and behaving aggressively with an airport official during a stopover in the Middle Eastern country.

On October 1, Gillis was traveling from Kandahar Airfield, where she was working as a civilian supply technician. Her destination was South Africa, where she was flying to meet her boyfriend, and in between her trip she was supposed to stop in Dubai for 15 hours. She has also been accused for showing disrespect toward a male security official during the stop.

Briton jailed for drinking and spreading false rumor of bomb in the aircraft

During the month of July, a Briton named Mark Winterbottom created a big scene while boarding an Emirates flight at the Dubai airport when he claimed that the flight was carrying a bomb. His suggestions were taken seriously and the aircraft was thoroughly checked for any sort of explosives but none were found.

The 37 year old, who was also drunk, even got into an argument with an Emirates’s crew member. Now in September when his case was heard in court, he has been sentenced to four months' jail and fined 1,000 dirhams (£152), for the nuisance he created at the airport.
